About overtime pay
This calculator works out overtime pay from your hourly rate, your regular hours, your overtime hours and the overtime multiplier (time-and-a-half is 1.5, double time is 2). It shows regular pay, overtime pay and the total. It runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
How Overtime Pay works
The formula
Regular pay = regular hours × hourly rate. Overtime pay = overtime hours × hourly rate × multiplier. Total = regular pay + overtime pay.
Worked example
Rate 20, 40 regular hours, 5 overtime hours at 1.5×: regular = 40 × 20 = 800. Overtime = 5 × 20 × 1.5 = 150. Total = 800 + 150 = 950. The overtime hours are effectively paid at 30 an hour.
