About pixelating images
This tool pixelates an image — drag a box over a face, name or other detail to censor just that area with a mosaic effect, or pixelate the whole picture. You choose the block size and download the result. It runs in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.
How Pixelate Image works
How to use it
- Drop or choose an image.
- Drag a box over the area to censor, or click Pixelate whole.
- Adjust the block size and download.
How it works
Pixelation shrinks the selected area down to a tiny grid and scales it back up without smoothing, so each block becomes one solid colour — the familiar mosaic censor effect. A larger block size makes bigger, more anonymising squares.
Why use it
It is the quick, private way to hide faces, license plates, addresses, account numbers or anything sensitive before you share a screenshot or photo. Because it runs locally, the original never leaves your device.
