About converting audio
This tool converts audio between formats — MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A and FLAC. It re-encodes in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, so your file is never uploaded. There is no watermark and no sign-up.
How Audio Converter works
How to use it
- Drop or choose an audio file.
- Pick the output format.
- Convert and download.
How it works
The tool decodes your audio and re-encodes it to the chosen format — MP3, OGG and M4A are compressed for small files, while WAV and FLAC are lossless. It all runs locally with ffmpeg in WebAssembly; the engine downloads once (~32 MB) and is cached.
Which format?
Use MP3 for maximum compatibility and small size, M4A/AAC for good quality at small size, and WAV or FLAC when you need lossless audio.
