About the statistics calculator

This statistics calculator gives you the full set of descriptive statistics for any data set. Paste your numbers and it returns the mean, median, mode, range, minimum, maximum, sum, count, variance and standard deviation (both sample and population) — all calculated instantly in your browser.

How Statistics works

How to use it

  1. Paste your numbers, separated by spaces, commas or new lines.
  2. The statistics calculate instantly (or click Calculate).
  3. Read the mean, median, mode and the full table of measures.

Mean, median and mode

The mean is the average; the median is the middle value when sorted; the mode is the most frequent value. Together they describe the centre of your data.

Sample vs population

Variance and standard deviation are shown both ways: the sample version divides by n−1 (use it for a sample of a larger group), and the population version divides by n (use it when you have every value).
