What is IP Address?
Your IP address is the unique number that identifies your connection to the internet. This page shows your public IP — the address websites and servers actually see — along with whether it is IPv4 or IPv6, your approximate country, and basic browser information. Your IP is detected from your connection; nothing extra is stored.
How IP Address works
When you load a page, your request carries your public IP address, which the server reads. An IPv4 address looks like 203.0.113.42; the newer IPv6 looks like 2001:db8::1. Your private/local IP (such as 192.168.x.x) stays on your home network and is not visible to websites.
Common uses
- Find your public IP address quickly
- Check whether you are on IPv4 or IPv6
- Confirm your approximate location/country
- Troubleshoot networking, VPNs or remote access
Frequently asked questions
What is my IP address?
It is shown at the top of this page — the public IP your internet connection is using right now.
What is the difference between public and private IP?
Your public IP is assigned by your ISP and seen by websites. Private IPs (like 192.168.0.5) are used inside your local network and are not visible online.
Why does my IP change?
Most home connections use dynamic IPs that change periodically. A VPN or proxy also changes the IP that websites see.
Is my IP being stored?
No — it is detected and displayed for you; we do not store it.
