The formulas
Devine, Robinson, Miller and Hamwi each estimate ideal weight from height, adding a set amount per inch above 5 feet. They differ slightly, so the tool also shows their average.
Use with care
Ideal-weight formulas ignore frame size and muscle, so a muscular person may sit above the range while being perfectly healthy. The healthy BMI range is often a more practical target.
