About removing metadata
This tool removes EXIF and other metadata from your photos — the hidden information cameras and phones embed, such as GPS location, camera model, serial number, software and the date and time a photo was taken. It re-saves each image without that data so you can share it safely. It runs in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.
How EXIF Remover works
How to use it
- Drop one or more photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP).
- For JPEGs, pick the quality if you like.
- Click Clean & download to save metadata-free copies.
How it works
Photo files store metadata in separate sections alongside the pixels. This tool redraws each image onto a canvas and exports a fresh file, which contains only the picture and none of the original metadata blocks — so EXIF, GPS and other tags are gone.
Why it matters
Photos you post often carry your exact GPS coordinates and device details. Stripping metadata protects your privacy and reduces file size, without visibly changing the image.
