About blurring images
This tool blurs an image — drag a box over a face, sign or detail to blur just that area, or blur the whole picture (handy for backgrounds). You set the blur strength and download the result. It runs in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.
How Blur Image works
How to use it
- Drop or choose an image.
- Drag a box over the area to blur, or click Blur whole.
- Adjust the strength and download.
How it works
The tool makes a blurred copy of the picture and paints it back only inside the area you selected, so the rest stays sharp. A higher strength spreads each pixel further, giving a softer, more obscuring blur.
Blur vs pixelate
Blur gives a smooth, natural-looking obscuring effect, while pixelation produces hard mosaic squares. For censoring truly sensitive details, a strong blur or pixelation both work; for a soft, aesthetic background, blur looks best.
