This BMI chart shows the Body Mass Index categories used by the World Health Organization. BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². It is a quick screening tool for adults, though it does not measure body fat directly.
| Category | BMI range |
|---|---|
| Underweight | Below 18.5 |
| Normal weight | 18.5 – 24.9 |
| Overweight | 25.0 – 29.9 |
| Obese (Class 1) | 30.0 – 34.9 |
| Obese (Class 2) | 35.0 – 39.9 |
| Obese (Class 3) | 40.0 and above |
How to calculate BMI
BMI = kg ÷ m². Example: 70 kg and 1.75 m → 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) = 22.9 (normal weight).
